The locations vary greatly from just 15 minutes south to 90 minutes from Cancun. The Riviera Maya offers the same attractions as Cancun, such as, Mayan ruins, beaches, water sports, golf, shopping and more. The difference is that you're close to but removed from the hustle and bustle of Cancun. In the middle of the Riviera Maya is the lesser known town of Playa del Carmen. Playa del Carmen is where you can take the Cozumel ferry and also stroll the cobblestone streets of 5th Avenue and enjoy the shops, restaurants and bars. 
 
The Riviera Maya stretches 81 miles down the Caribbean coast of Mexico just south of Cancun. It begins 11 miles south of the Cancun International airport in Puerto Morelos and extends all the way down to the small town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, a small town near the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. 
 
The area features uncrowded white sand beaches, over 100 Cenotes (natural wells), and is close to many of Mexico's most significant Mayan archeological sites. You can enjoy the action of kayaking, mountain biking, scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, bird watching, and all your favorite leisurely beach pursuits. And most importantly, the area includes a great variety of resorts that are perfect for an all inclusive Riviera Maya honeymoon, stress-free vacation, romantic getaway, or a Destination Wedding in Mexico.

Normally here, we just list a few of our favorites, but this destination has so many great choices that a different approach is required.
 
The Excellence Riviera Cancun is our most popular luxury adults-only all inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya. The rooms, the food and the service has made this resort extremely popular due to the testimony of very happy past guests. Other great choices in this same category are the Royal Playa del Carmen, which has a great location. The El Dorado Royale and the El Dorado Maroma have a fantastic gourmet all inclusive program. The Aventura Spa Palace is in our luxury collection, but you'll also see it listed below as a tremendous value.
 
If you want to be close to the town of Playa del Carmen, you can walk to 5th Avenue from the Royal Playa del Carmen or Playacar Palace.
 
If you want the nicest beach of all, Maroma Beach is always on the top 10 list of beaches worldwide, so check out El Dorado Maroma or Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun.
 
Do you want a small and intimate resort? El Dorado Maroma has only 72 suites, sits on Maroma Beach and has a gourmet all inclusive program. This is the closest resort you'll find to "Corona commercial" so many of you are looking for.
 
If you want a large resort that has something for everyone, the Aventura Spa Palace has 1266 rooms, 7 restaurants, 8 bars, a rock climbing wall, a Zen garden and much more.
